Genevieve Margherio, Owner & Creative Director at Red Lemon Creative, and CFC 2009 attendee, asks this question on the CFC LinkedIn Group:
Do you always default to buying when you're out with client - and/or when you're out with a subcontractor?
What do you think? How do you deal with the question of who buys?

The "host" should be buying. If the client comes to your office, you should provide, and vice versa. If you meet at a restaurant or coffee shop, it becomes a little more complicated. Usually, I'll prefer the client to pay because they, essentially, have the money, whereas I only have skills. Since they're in the mode of being a spender, they're paying is fine with me.
Also, chances are clients have real money, where little ole me has nothing.
